The 2017 Toyota Camry Makes Economic Sense

2017-toyota-camry-coverAs the temperatures go down, the cost of heating your home goes up, and you start to look for ways to save money. The 2017 Toyota Camry goes a long way to helping you keep more of your money in your wallet.

Fuel Efficiency

One of the most obvious ways that the Camry can save you money is by the fuel efficiency rating of their engines. In the LE model, the 2.5-litre 4-cyclinder engine delivered a 9.8 in the city and a 7.1 L/100km on the highway. The V6 equipped XLE gets 11 in the city and 7.8 on the highway from its 3.5-litre 6-cylinder.

Did you know that Toyota has more fuel-efficient vehicles than any other manufacturer in Canada?

Natural Resources Canada tests their fuel-efficiency to reflect how people actually drive. They have tested the vehicles doing a stop-and-go test to simulate city driving with a five-
minute idle interval. They tested at -7°C to simulate some of the winter conditions that you will put your vehicle through.

They also tested at summer temperatures with the air conditioner running full blast. Additionally, they did highway tests that monitored the effects of your speed on your consumption. Vehicles travelling at 100km/h use less fuel than those travelling at 120km/h. These new testing procedures make the fuel efficiency ratings much more accurate to real life driving.

Here are some ways that you can conserve fuel when driving:
1.         Gentle acceleration
2.         Maintain steady speeds
3.         Plan for traffic
4.         Coast to slow down
5.         Keep your speed down

Other tips include avoiding unnecessary idling, maintain proper tire pressure, avoid excessive weight in the vehicle, remove bike racks and top boxes when not in use and use your air conditioner sparingly.

Hybrid Power

Another way that Camry helps you save money is with its hybrid model.

2017-toyota-camry-intThe hybrid Camry comes equipped with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder Hybrid Synergy Drive engine that produces 200hp Net Power. It delivers an efficiency rating of 5.6 in the city and 6.2 on the highway L/100km.

You can choose between the EV Drive and the ECO Mode with just a touch of your finger. With a flip of a switch, you can drive short distances with just the electronic motor. It works best at slower speeds and saves fuel while reducing emissions and noise. The ECO Mode lets you save on fuel by controlling the acceleration pedal power and air conditioning outputs.

Its low rolling resistance tires and efficient components like the electronic water pump and air conditioner compressor assist in reducing fuel consumption even further. The 2017 Camry Hybrid earned a Tier 2 Bin 3 emissions rating.

Star Safety System

Safety is a priority for you, and Toyota has made it a priority for them, as well.  Just take into consideration all of the safety features that have been incorporated into the Camry.

The Star Safety System™ is standard on the Camry. It consists of a number of systems working together to help you avoid accidents.

It includes things like the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), traction control (TRAC), ABS brakes, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist and Smart Stop Technology (SST).

In fact, the 2016 Camry is just as impressive as the 2017 when it comes to safety and fuel efficiency, and it is available in a standard gas model and a hybrid model.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2016 Camry a Top Safety Pick for 2016, and it was a 2016 Canadian Black Book pick. Both of these awards help the Camry save you money by helping it retain its resale value when you’re ready to trade it in.

In addition, the Camry is equipped with a comfortable interior, high-tech controls and too many features to mention. We invite you to stop by and see the 2016 or 2017 Camry in person. Test drive one today.
